One of Australia's key exports has been entertainment. Ever seen Crocodile Hunter? Crocodile Dundee? (okay, enough crocodiles)
The X|Media|Lab was founded on the premise that unless the Australian creative community understands and embraces the possibilities inherent in the new digital media world, it will be left behind.
So they assembled an international team of experts, incuding LUX Media. Eight projects were chosen, and the people behind the projects were invited to spend four days with the experts. Scriptwriting, user-centered design, pitching, streaming media, interactivity, and web tie-ins to traditional media were among the things covered.
In addition, Steve Mack taught an all-day streaming media workshop, and presented at the X|Media|Lab's public day.
Was it a success? Only time will truly tell, but they're already in the process of scheduling the next lab.
